How to Eliminate "Distraction" the real enemy in Life

If you feel stagnant, Unmotivated, constantly tired when the alarm goes off in the morning and are experiencing a lack of ambition when the morning sun begins to rise. This Article is for you. Chances are the Enemy of "Distraction" is eating your lunch on the daily.

As we know distraction equals depletion so if we want change this is where to begin. Concentration is the key to success and this is why. We live in a time where distraction has become the new normal. Distraction manifests in over scrolling on social media, binge watching netflix, over consuming YouTube videos, gossiping about what other people are doing, and simply doing anything we can to avoid confronting those emotions that make us feel less than in life. We feel like we are stuck in a repeated cycle that is not providing the life we truly intended on living.

I can give you guys a million examples of how you stay distracted but it’s almost pointless. The answer to almost all your problems in life is simply learning to concentrate and manage your time more efficiently. I keep using the term concentration so let’s define it. Concentration is having the ability to maintain one’s focus on one thing for an extended period of time.

There is this quote from Earl Nightingale that states "America wasn’t built to prevent the winners from winning, this country was built to prevent the losers from losing". It’s the truth. It takes very little effort to sustain a job and pay bills. Most people follow in the foot steps of what other people are doing with no driving ambition to follow their dreams or what they really want in life. People put their 100% effort into the interview to get the job and a month later distraction from performing at their best has completely taken over.

So if you are one of these people who has taken the path of least resistance and this path eventually took a toll on your mental and physical health. Here is the solution and how to start implementing a practice to get some momentum built underneath you going in the proper direction.

The first exercise I would start with is a simple 10 minute a day self reflection. Sit down anywhere for 10 minutes alone and reflect on your life. Look into what areas you are feeling inadequate in but don’t fall into a guilt and shame trap because I guarantee there are many areas that you are managing and doing well in. So also when you are in this reflection I want you guys to become the observer. Ask questions and become the observer to find the answers. If you stay disciplined I promise the answers will come. Also the other technique I want you to practice is mindfulness. As you sit in this self reflection your distracted mind is going to be bouncing all over the place from one subject to the next or from the past to the future. Observe closely and watch this happen like a movie. Whenever you catch it happening bring yourself back to the present moment and continue your self reflection. The more you practice the better you will become.

Once this becomes a habit do yourself a favor and get a journal to write in. Label this journal. For example Self Reflection Journal or what I label mine is  "Access The Quit Journal". The reason I say to label it is that it initiates positive intention behind what you are doing from the start. And believe it or not your subconscious mind will build habits and momentum off small and simple tricks like this.
And last but not least don’t forget Distraction equals depletion and it is the real enemy in life. Not the guy who cut you off or your boss that isn’t giving you the real hours you need to make your ends meet. Distraction is taking away from you your ability to do your best work in life. And this is in regards to everything from work, your relationships, health and wellness and your own mental health which in my opinion suffers the most from staying distracted. Dealing with life’s difficulties sure isn’t the easiest thing to do but when we consciously face our Fears we will also consciously Persevere.
